Lobelia is a beautiful blue or purple flowering plant, and it looks amazing when grown in hanging baskets or planted on a slope, from which it can cascade and grow freely. It requires moist soil, so make sure to keep the soil damp. Lobelia loves bright and indirect sunlight, so you can keep it near a window or under the shade.

Petunias come in a wide variety of colours, from classic pink to bold red or even yellow. They are easy to grow, and they can grow from hanging baskets or as ground covers as they spread and cascade naturally. Petunias require well-draining soil and moderate watering. They prefer full sunlight exposure, so place them in a spot where they can get at least six hours of sunlight every day.

Fuschia Trailing Flowering Plant
Fuchsia by far one of my favorites is a stunning trailing plant that can bring life and beauty to any garden. It produces beautiful colourful flowers, ranging from pink to purple or red and as a bonus attracts hummingbirds to your garden! Fuchsia requires moist soil and moderate watering. It prefers bright sunlight exposure, so keep it in a location where it can get plenty of light every day.
Pot Type, Soil and Watering your Trailing Flowering Plants
Now that we know which trailing flowering plants are best for gardeners, let’s talk about how to grow and maintain them.
Pot type: A hanging basket is the best pot type choice for trailing plants as it allows them to grow naturally and spill over the edges. My favorite type of hanging baskets for outside is the wire baskets with Coir liners.
Soil type: Well-draining soil mix is the perfect soil type for these plants. Make sure to add perlite, sand, or coarse vermiculite to your potting mix to improve drainage and avoid waterlogging. For my hanging baskets I like to use the Miracle Grow Moisture control potting mix.
Watering: Generally, watering should be moderate, and you should avoid overwatering your plants. Check the soil moisture level by feeling the soil every day, and water only when the top inch of the soil feels dry to the touch.
